Everyone's welcome*

Kia ora friends
If you read The End is Naenae, then first, I want to congratulate you on your good judgement. Second, you're my mate, and I want to let you know that’s important to me.
I want to be clear: everyone's welcome. With the move to Substack, I've had a few messages from folks who feel apologetic they can't take out a paid subscription. I can't say it enough, there's nothing to apologise for. I want you around.
There are important reasons we should value writers - especially women writers, who are often written off as lightweight. Paid subscriptions are one great way to do that. Here are some others:
- Recommend my writing to someone you know, or promote it on social media
- Be kind to me next time I get piled on by TERFs
- If you've got an idea for a writing project, or maybe some other project you think might interest me, let me know
- Have a go at using Substack, by leaving a like or making a comment
- Join me in laughing at my own jokes
- If you feel comfortable, take out a free subscription (it means I can see you on my list, and you'll get emailed newsletters)
- Above all, keep coming here with an open mind and heart, and a sense of humour
To those who've taken out paid subscriptions, once again, my heartfelt gratitude. I'm in the process of messaging each of you, and sheepishly buying thank you coffees for those who are keen. I can't wait to hang out.
I started The End is Naenae because I like words and ideas. But I kept it up because I love the community. It's only a community if we value everyone's contribution. So keep bringing yours, and I'll see you around.
