Kо̄whai is meant to be the smart one

It's been a couple of weeks, and you probably weren't wondering how Atawhai and Kо̄whai are getting on learning to use the cat flap.

Here is Kо̄whai - and remember, Kо̄whai is meant to be the smart one - at the sliding door in the lounge. Every time Kо̄whai wants to go in or out, or just wants me to open the door so he can sit there and look through it gormlessly, he makes very sad noises.

I got really fed up getting up and down to open the sliding door. There's a perfectly good cat flap in the front door, on the other side of the house. The problem is personal responsibility.

It was time for some tough love. Kо̄whai stared at me through the sliding door. I stared back. He made sad noises. I mouthed "USE THE CAT FLAP, DICK".

He wouldn't back down. Neither would I. I will NOT be made a fool of.

So now, when Kо̄whai appears at the sliding door, I simply walk through the house and out the front door, walk around the house to find him, walk with him back around to the front door, hold the cat flap open for him, then usher him through the house and into the lounge.

Sure showed him.
