Numpty cats, wasted effort

There was a time I dreamed that if I just worked hard enough, believed in myself, I could become a real writer. Maybe, just maybe, what I wrote could change the world.
But dreams don't come true, and here I am locked down and wearing a cat jumper with a curry stain on it, basically just being a dick on Facebook and hoping for the best.
But if I'm a dick, at least I'm not alone.
I introduced you a while back to Atawhai and Kōwhai, the rescue kittens we adopted. Atawhai disgraced himself early by running off and sparking a panic. Kōwhai smirked. It was a dynamic that was to continue.
Atawhai and Kōwhai are likeable enough, but they're not fast learners. Our current challenge is getting them to use the cat flap.
There's an element of laziness here. My kids' dad has trouble saying no, and the cats know if they wait long enough, he'll run about opening doors for them like a butler.
But they're also just being dense. We've tried everything. My son even put his own head into the cat flap to role model good life choices. Wasted effort.
Still, whatever you're up to, I hope your day is a little brighter for seeing this photo of a pair of numpty cats.
